Day Spa - How to Find the Right Paradise For You

Can't head to the islands for a weekend in the sun? Then a day spa is just the right thing for you. These wellness centers allow you to get away from it all and relax, even with your busy schedule. They are popping up all over the place, and no matter where you live there is bound to be a good day spa just a short drive away. But how do you find a good day spa? Here are some things to consider before you pick one.

There's A Lot To Be Said For Convenience

How often do you plan to hit the spa? If you're like most working folks, you're probably going to want to become a regular. That's why choosing a day spa that is convenient is important. Don't go with a crummy spa just because it's close, but remember that you don't want to have to drive 4 hours to get to your oasis. Start with the centers in your area, and if nothing looks great, go further afield.

Just Like A Restaurant, Check Out The Menu

What do you want out of your day spa? Think about it like you would think about picking a place for lunch. The first thing you should look at is the menu. Are there special treatments like dermabrasion or fitness programs that you'd like? If so, let that guide your decision. Try a few places and compare their menus of services. This will help you get the one that suits you best. Most day spas have websites so you can check out what they offer online.

With these wellness centers, more is better. Always go for a place that offers more services than you could ever want to use. You never know when you might want to try something new, like nail treatments, waxing or other goodies. A place with a wide variety of services will always give you more.

Several Health Benefits of Massage

Massage is a widely used naturopathy with several health benefits. Massage unites the fractured of bones. It relieves sprains and brushes. It is beneficial in muscle wasting. It regenerates the muscle tissue. The contractile power of muscles is increased by sticking and tapping. Effleurage, kneading and tapotement massage are used for relieving muscle pain.

Normally dry palms are used for massaging but if the skin is too dry or if the body is very weak, oil may be used. Til (sesame) oil is widely used for massage as it is specific for removing pain which is produced by vata. There are three humors which control the body viz-vata, a more or less a nervous activity, pitta- enzymes, digestive juice and bile. Kapha- a growth factor and material present in joint spaces lungs, throat, head, joints and stomach.

There are several herbal oils widely used in massage, they are maha masha taila of black gram used in wasting of muscles, marichadi oil of pepperused in phlegmatic diseases, karpasas thyadi taila of cotton seed oil used in nervous diseases, chandnadi taila of sandal wood used in bilious disorders. The massage is usually done for 30 minutes and for local massage 15 minutes. After massage, the oil is removed by a dry cloth and if needed warm water bath is given.

Avoid massage in tuberculosis, gonorrhoea and diphtheria. In fever, no massage is advised. Pregnant women should avoid abdominal massage. Massage is also not advisable in case of skin diseases. Abdominal massages should be avoided in appendicitis or tumors in the abdominal, gastric or duodenal ulcers and diarrhea.

Massage Body Mechanics - Massage Therapist Injury Prevention and Recovery

Massage therapy is a profession that requires proper self-care and body mechanics in order to prevent musculoskeletal injury from overuse. Recovery from overuse injuries requires time and patience, but with the proper care and reassessment of technique and body mechanics, full recovery is often possible.

Overuse injuries often sneak up subtly over time. The damage begins long before you experience any symptoms, so even if you feel strong and healthy now, your body mechanics may cause pain and discomfort down the road. Don't wait for the first sign of pain to reevaluate your massage techniques.

The key to injury recovery is to work smarter, not harder. You may need complete rest from labor-intensive work for a period of time in order for the injured body part to fully heal. Taking advantage of the healing power of bodywork as part of your massage self-care may help speed your recovery.

As frustrating as an injury can be, it's also an opportunity to rethink your whole approach to massage therapy. You may discover through this process of reflection a new vision and energy for bodywork that drives you to improve your massage techniques or shift into a new form of bodywork.

Improving your body mechanics includes reassessing the foundation of your approach to massage. Focus on the basics of ergonomics and body awareness. As you relearn massage techniques, open yourself up to change, even minor changes. Even if you think your technique is flawless, there may be a subtle change you can make that reduces the stress on your body and prevents reinjury.

Massage Therapy - What to Expect From a Massage Therapy Session

Have you been thinking about receiving a massage therapy session, but feel hesitant and nervous, not knowing what to expect? Has shyness or modesty been holding you back? Having a clear picture of what to expect on your first session should help.

When you arrive for your first massage therapy session, your therapist will probably have you sit down and talk to them, or fill out a form, about any health issues you might have. They will probably ask you to tell them if you have any problem areas, or areas of discomfort in your back, neck or shoulders. They will also want to know of any back injuries or surgeries you have had. Another common question would be to ask what your expecting from the massage. Are you wanting to relieve a specific painful area, or are you just needing some help letting go of stress?

Once you have answered their questions,if you like, you could ask them for an overview of how they will be working on you. You could ask what styles and technique they plan to use. This could help you to get a general feel for what to expect.

Next, you therapist will leave the room while you remove your clothing and get under the sheet on the massage table. Sometimes an extra light blanket may be provided for extra warmth. There should be a sheet under you as well and some kind of pillow for under your knees for comfort. The massage table should be comfortable yet firm. Often therapists will add extra padding and even a heated mattress pad for extra comfort. The room should be warm, quiet and comfortable.

Tampa Massage

There are many massaging techniques that people can try to soothe or calm themselves after a strenuous day. A Tampa sensual massage is one of them. People can have it done by a professional masseuse or even by a loved one. People should trust that the massage will help relax their body and calm their nerves. The first thing is to determine where they will be laying for the massage. A comfortable firm sofa, floor mat, massage table or chair will work. People should also be in loose fitting clothes or have a cloth that will cover the areas not being massaged.

The next step in the Tampa sensual massage is to work the legs. The masseuse therapy should concentrate on one section at a time, starting from the top at the thighs working down to the knees. The upper part of the body or legs might require the same pressure and kneading motion as the back. Next people providing Tampa massage should work the calves and ankles. Once people get a complete or full body massage, they know a new kind of relaxation. In fact, according to Mosby's Medical, Nursing and Allied Health Dictionary, the term sensual means, pertaining to a great interest in sex, food, or other sensory satisfying activities. A better definition of the term sensual would be providing, creating pleasure for all the senses.

Sensual Tampa massage is a great way to build intimacy and closeness with the partner. A very good book for learning Tampa sensual massage techniques at home is The Joy of Sensual Massage written by Jack Hofer. This guide is a fully illustrated book that teaches people how to give a massage to someone at home. Hofer, the author points out, however, that the main purpose of massage is to relax the body, whereas sex excites it. It is a best practice if people approach the sensual massage as an end in itself, not merely as a prelude to lovemaking. Massage oil is an essential part of the sensual massage toolkit, but people do not have to spend a lot of money on some special sensual massage oil. A rather good inexpensive choice is almond oil.
